Current Health Updates for Utah Families

Measles Awareness

Note that while measles is highly contagious and can stay in the air for two hours, the MMR vaccine is 97 percent effective.

Flu Season Preparedness

Share that this year’s flu season is particularly intense, with statewide hospitalization rates rivaling previous peaks.

American Fork Pediatricians

Marcie Conner, M.D.

Dr. Conner practices in our American Fork office. Her interests include being with family, reading, cooking and nutrition. She also enjoys spending time in the mountains and gardening.

Tyson Jones, M.D.

If there were one thing Dr. Jones wished his patients knew about him it is that he’s not actually as young as he looks. If there were a second, he goes home every day smiling.

Stephen Lee, M.D.

Dr. Lee is a SoCal native whose journey led him to BYU for college where he fell in love with Utah (and his future wife). He’s now married with five children.

Scott H. Mumford, M.D.

Dr. Mumford practices in our American Fork office. He specializes in general pediatrics from comprehensive well child care to sick visits for all children from newborns to adolescents.

Ryan B. Wilcox, M.D.

Born and raised in Utah, Dr. Wilcox enjoys taking full advantage of all that the state has to offer. When he’s not trail running, backpacking, or mountain biking, he enjoys traveling.

Other Caregivers

Todd Chidester, FNP-C

A lifelong Utahn, Todd enjoys being outdoors when he isn’t taking care of kids. In the office, he says building relationships with the families he works with is the most rewarding.

Maury Giauque, NP

Maury Giauque is originally from Utah Valley, but moved to the midwest for 15 years. She moved back with her four children to be closer to family and because she enjoys Utah mountains.

Patient Resources and FAQ

What should I do if my child is exposed to measles?

Call your pediatrician immediately. If the child is unvaccinated, getting the vaccine within 72 hours of exposure may prevent the disease.

When is my child too sick for school?

Children should stay home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Is the flu vaccine still worth it?

Yes, it significantly reduces the risk of hospitalization and life-threatening complications, even if the flu is already circulating in the community.
